The moments leading up to a show are filled with contemplation: last minute preparation; envisioning how the set will play out; and strangely enough, stillness and emptiness. “The stillness of contemplation...” to steal from DEATHSPELL OMEGA.

In the earliest days of the band, getting into the correct mindset took a modicum of meditation. Locked away from all others, focusing on what needed to be done, and trying to harness the proper spiritual energy. I wouldn’t even allow myself to be seen without my paint because it seemed like 2 separate entities.
Nowadays, the “transformation” is instantaneous because there is no separation. You’ve seen for yourself how I walk around seemingly in trance (Editors note: He was pacing through the venue wide-eyed staring intensely at nothing leading up to the set). I am aware of others and yet completely alone. “I crush my eyes to gain the sight of a god. I choke the human within to gain the will of a god.” Matters of the mortal coil dissipate in the wake of the Abyss to come. I’ve heard countless times after leaving the stage...

“that was not you up there, that was something else.”

It is always me. It is what lies beneath, waiting to burst forth, but it is also so much more from the Beyond being channeled and focused. I live purely for this form to manifest.
