Rounding the corner on this desk build. ✨

Always exploring, always striving to outdo myself from before and always grateful to do this work.

Democrats’ sweeping midterms victory marked a major rejection of Elon Musk and the artificial-intelligence industry, as a broad backlash against U.S. President Donald Trump and his tech allies put their political influence — and the debt-fueled data center buildout — under sharper scrutiny. This took ages to put together but it’s finally done! I wanted to try out a little concept comic hook for Threadbound to get a better feel on the art direction and vibes. This technically won’t be in the comic itself, but it covers the main murder mystery premise of the first chapter. This is the first mention of Patch, which is where the story takes place, and I’ve spent a long time fleshing it out. It’s a tight-knit small town stuck in a decaying 1950s aesthetic due to its declining economy. Despite that, the residents are very warm and welcoming. Everyone-knows-everyone kind of feel. I had a lot of fun coming up with the environments, and there’s a lot more in my drafts for specific locations that’ll appear in the comic - might get around to sharing those at some point.
It's always a good idea to have a healthy skepticism for science-based fitness. But that is especially true when they are telling you that there is no difference between two things or no advantage to one thing over another because the tools they most commonly use are explicitly not designed to draw the conclusion that there's no difference between two things. Now if they tell us that something does make a difference when the bros don't think it does, then id at least want to hear the argument, because at least that's something their experiments should in theory provide evidence for. But when the bro consensus say something matters and the science guys says it doesn't you can safely disregard them. Why does a calorie surplus help intermediate and advanced lifters build muscle? I have no idea, mechanistically, and that's what trips up the science guys, there's no mechanistic reason why the body couldn't use stored energy and still build muscle at maintainence. But if we look at it from an evolutionarily perspective, what problem was the body's increasing resistance to adding muscle designed to solve it becomes obvious. Its designed to balance the demands of the environment for strength with not becoming to energy hungry. What's the best way to shift that calculus? Show there's plenty of food available by eating!
