8 months agoGotta disagree massively with you on this one. Phones lead to depression, the fear of missing out, the negative posts getting the most views, etc. Kids at that age can't self-regulate and the algorithm is designed to lock them in. My youngest used to paint, sculpt, design, play music all day long... until the phone. Now, phone is the #1 priority, it's night and day. Kids in the comments think that mom and dad are just mean but they don't realize what it's doing to them. I'll let my kids TALK or FaceTime their friends, to have human conversations at night, but not just mindlessly scrolling.
a year agoI agree that communication with friends happens through phones and social media. However, when your teen has no self-control, and they are literally on their phone/device until 3 or 4 am…then sleep until 3 pm or refuse to go to school. How do you suggest that is remedied? A parent needs to step in and remove the device because the teen does not have the ability to do it themselves because of addiction to the device. I am open to discussion on this topic because this is real life.
