@aztecmasonry and I starting off the 2025 masonry season. This chimney was originally clay brick but got veneered with some beautiful granite stone, unfortunately veneering over clay brick is not a good idea as it causes the bricks to spall and fall apart underneath the stone, which can eventually lead to water damage inside the house, and in the case of a chimney or higher walls, a safety hazard due to stones potentially falling on people or pets.
This job was a compete tear down from top to bottom, all the brick (and unfortunately the beautiful stone) was removed and disposed of, and replaced with
@permacon_ la fit stone.
We were very happy with the turn out on this chimney, thanks
@grandriverstone for supplying the stone, @permacon_ for making an awesome product, and thank you
@trinity.exteriors for the awesome (and quick thank you again) flashing job.
