Sometimes the solution starts BEFORE we ever pick up our shears or head to the shampoo bowl! πŸ‘πŸΌ Here’s a little peek inside my Connecticut class, where I had both stylists and curl friends learning together! One thing I want to challenge my fellow stylists to do? If you’re thinking it in your head, SAY IT OUT LOUD! πŸ—£οΈ We forget that what feels like common sense to us isn’t always common knowledge to our clients. Every little detail is an opportunity to educate, inspire, and help your client understand their hair a little bit deeper. And sometimes solving the problem is SIMPLE! These curls had lost a little of their juice, so we used a little Hair Renew Conditioner, a little water, and I create volume and a few simple techniques to bring back some life. No shampoo bowl. No haircut. Just understanding the WHY behind the WHAT! ✨ Want to understand products and how to choose them with confidence? Comment TRAINING for my FREE class! βœ‚οΈ Want me to bring this kind of education (and a whole lot of laughter) to your salon or next event? Check out the link in my bio! Because curls don’t have to be complicated. πŸ’› #vossthecurlboss #curlyhaireducation ation
The same thing that makes ibuprofen and other NSAIDs work on pain also lowers the protection on your stomach lining... On a recent Ask Me Anything episode, a listener asked me, β€œHow bad is ibuprofen really?” I hear it all the time in my telehealth practice, usually from someone who wants to know if one or two for a headache or cramps is okay. Here’s what’s happening... Ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin are NSAIDs, and they work by blocking enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) that make prostaglandins. Prostaglandins drive inflammation, swelling, and pain, which is why blocking them helps. But they also protect your stomach lining, reduce excess stomach acid, stimulate gut-protective mucus, and support your kidneys and blood flow to your liver. So when we block them, we’re not only turning down pain. We’re turning down the things that protect your gut. The more you take and the more often you take it, the more likely you are to run into issues. But I don’t want you to be afraid of it! If one ibuprofen a month is what gets you through a day of bad cramps, or a headache is keeping you from sleep, the benefit can outweigh the risk. Use the lowest dose that works, as infrequently as you can, and if you take it regularly, check in with your doctor. If you reach for it often, it’s worth trying natural options like curcumin, boswellia, white willow bark, and magnesium, and asking what’s behind the pain in the first place. Comment PAIN and I’ll send you the article, plus my other resources. ❀️❀️ Have you ever swapped ibuprofen for something else? Tell me below what’s worked for you! #artofbeingwell #selfhealers #guthealth #inflammation #naturalremedies
