Why people cling to ‘Things’ after a LOVED ONE dies? Why do we cling to a loved one’s things after they die, like the sweater you won’t wash because it still smells like them? It can look like you’re stuck, but grief researchers say it’s one of the most natural things we do. Psychologists call it a continuing bond. When someone dies, we don’t stop loving them. The relationship changes form, and their belongings become a bridge to them. Their voice, their laugh, the way they said your name can fade over time, and an object brings them rushing back when memory alone can’t. Because these bonds show up in nearly every culture and era, researchers no longer see letting go as the goal of healthy grief. Staying connected is. Neuroscientists have even found that a cherished belonging can light up the same love and attachment regions of the brain that activate when the person is near. That’s also why letting go can physically hurt. So if you’re keeping your mother’s handwriting or your husband’s old jacket, there’s no deadline to let go and no shame in keeping what comforts you. If grief ever makes daily life hard to manage, talking with a grief counselor can help. Follow for more honest conversations about grief and caregiving, and share this with someone who’s holding on to something precious.#Grief #Caregiving #HealthyAging
Omg sorry to double post today but I’ve just found out that ‘Normal Men, Innocent Men’ happened 10 YEARS AGO TODAY😂 I try not to post about it too much cos I don’t wanna do people’s heads in, but I also know that SO many of you follow me because of that daft moment, which became the unlikeliest international meme😂. Over the years it’s had millions upon millions of likes, travelled worldwide, been used for everything from pub quiz team names, to satire during moments of political chaos, to Glasto flags. I often get asked whether I get bored of it and the answer is NO! I’m so glad that in this sometimes miserable world, it brings fun and joy and silliness. Special shoutout to @werejustnormalmen who post it every Monday and keep the laughter alive. I also love that you found my bloopers which contain other great moments such as “goose” and “scchhhhtupid game”. Big cheers from me and @philfletcherofficial - the man behind Hacker and arguably the funniest man who ever lived. Thanks for making us all corpse laughing for the past 10 years x
Go vote, California!
The most magical weekend ever getting to celebrate my best friend & sister!! Congratulations to the Chatloses 💍🤍
In honor of the most marvelous holiday of them all, I have teamed up with UNIVERSAL MONSTERS (omg) to create limited edition keepsake urns (you know, for ashes, or candy, or whatever) featuring my favorite monsters from Dracula to the Mummy! We even created a Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein double urn so you can rest in horror history with a loved one forever! They’re available now at TitanCasket.com - and this is only the beginning. Can’t wait for you all to see what we’re cooking up in the lab. Thanks as always to our great friends at @fangoria for this gorgeous announcement. Thank you @officialuniversalhorror for making our dreams come true.
