Congratulations to Dr. Amy Acton on her reported historic victory in Ohio! Amy Acton survived childhood sexual abuse and neglect. She grew up to become a physician, a public health leader, and now, Ohio’s first woman governor. During the campaign, Vivek Ramaswamy aired an attack ad featuring her estranged mother, who accused Acton of lying about her childhood. Yet court records corroborated key elements of Acton’s account of abuse. As a pediatrician, I find the decision to use someone’s childhood trauma as political ammunition deeply disturbing. Childhood abuse survivors deserve compassion, dignity, and the opportunity to define their own futures. Acton’s story is a reminder that trauma does not have to define the limits of someone’s life. Congratulations, Dr. Acton. Your story matters, and so do the stories of countless survivors who are watching. #publichealth #doctor #ohio
It was Halloween yesterday, and Crypta played in Montreal! It was definitely fun to get to play a show looking like this. My look was inspired by Lucy, from Dracula, but regardless of that, I always get to be a vampire for Halloween 🧛🏻‍♀️🩸.
Dear Nat, It has been the greatest honor to know you and love you. A part of me is missing without you here. You are the bravest and most admirable person I have ever known. You always have been and always will be my biggest inspiration. Your dedication and passion for aviation are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. You pursued your dreams with a determination that inspired everyone around you, and the love and light you brought into this world will never be forgotten. I am forever grateful for every second I was blessed enough to spend with you. I’m so proud to call you my best friend, workout partner, and sister in Christ. I would give anything to have one more day of wearing matching outfits, getting energy drinks from Vitamin Shoppe, listening to our favorite songs in the car, going to the gym, and then getting food one last time. I wish I could sleep over at your house again, eat our favorite protein snacks, and watch videos of planes while you teach me about each one. Every memory of you is so precious to me. I’m going to miss your laugh so much. I want my best friend back so badly, but I find comfort in knowing that the God we love is holding you now. I know He saw your beautiful heart, your dreams, and every bit of light you brought into the lives of others. I am so proud of the woman you are, and I pray I can carry even a fraction of your kindness, discipline, and love with me throughout my life. Thank you for loving me so wholeheartedly. You showed me what a true friend is. I will miss you in a million ways, every single day, for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, my best friend. I love you endlessly. Thank you for being one of the greatest blessings God ever placed in my life. 🩷
