Democrat Annie Andrews celebrated her upset victory in South Carolina’s Senate race, becoming the first woman and pediatrician elected to the chamber from the state.
In August 1993, then Senator Joe Biden made a striking demonstration during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing by holding up a TEC 9 semiautomatic pistol while discussing gun violence and proposed restrictions on assault weapons. As chairman of the committee, Biden was a prominent advocate for tougher firearm regulations, arguing that certain weapons posed a serious threat to public safety. The moment became one of the most memorable images from the congressional debates surrounding gun control in the early 1990s. The hearing took place during a period of growing concern about violent crime across the United States. Biden would later play a significant role in passing the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which prohibited the manufacture of certain semiautomatic firearms for civilian use for ten years. Supporters viewed the legislation as an important step toward reducing gun violence, while critics questioned its effectiveness and argued that it infringed upon constitutional rights. The ban expired in 2004, but the debate surrounding these weapons continues decades later. 🇺🇸⚖️

Make yourself loud in this moment and try to keep eye contact with me. . . Let’s regulate our nervous system together. . Pretend we’re the only two people in the room and actually do these ancient techniques. . . Let go. Clear your mind. Focus on the breath. Also… How are you? How is your day? Your week? Your month? Tell me anything <3 #mentalhealth #anxietyrelief #connection #anxiety calm
