“Redacted“, my capstone project was inspired by cubism and graffiti art.
If you didn’t know, Cubism art was directly derived from African art, which was savagely ridiculed by its prime successors and was only glorified once it was appropriated and Europeanised out of Africa.
As for Graffiti art, the style was seen at it’s prime as something “Unmannered” and “rebellious”, yet was widely used in African American culture as a way of self expression and to shed light on political topics.
Because of this, I wanted to take these stereotypes that these artworks were shamed for, and use my garment to show just how unique and beautiful these artworks are. I also wanted to pay homage to African/Black art overall, being pieces that I’ve grown up around all my life.

Thank you God for always answering my prayers and helping me stick through this journey. Thank you so much for the critics for selecting my garment for the exhibition, speaking things into existence really does pay off. Thank you to all my friends and family for all the support to create this piece. I had so much fun designing this and discovered so much about my style as a designer and finally being able to witness my growth first hand!
With that being said, this garment will be displayed to be seen until April 20th, so please check out this piece at
@fit_artdesigngallery as well as all the other talented souls when you get the chance!
More creative designs coming in soon! ;D
