“But I’m not ready to go-“ my freshman self complained to God at the end of my first year at Liberty, not ready for the incredible classes and adventures and experiences to end for the summer. I remember telling God this multiple times, and finally as I walked back from the freshman parking lot on east campus, the Lord gently reminded me:
“I didn’t call you to be ready, I called you to obey.”
I shut up pretty quickly, that was humbling. So I resolved to obey, even when I didn’t feel ready for it.
And so even now, as I’m not really ready to say goodbye to this beautiful chapter of my life, I seek to obey. Obey by doing what, I don’t know. But I know that I can obey by becoming who, not what, God wants me to be. By being present wherever He places me next, by His grace and for His glory.
I may not be ready (I guarantee you I’m not) but I will still choose to obey.
🎶Trust and obey,
for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus
but to trust and obey. 🎶
