What happens when the people who work hard every day cannot afford access to quality healthcare? From corn sellers to petty traders and tyre pumpers, millions of Nigerians in the informal sector work tirelessly to earn a living. Yet, access to affordable healthcare and health insurance remains a challenge for many. I took to the streets of Abuja to speak with some of these hardworking Nigerians, hear their experiences and understand the barriers they face in accessing health insurance. Their stories remind us that healthcare should not be a privilege reserved for a few. Everyone deserves access to quality and affordable healthcare, regardless of how they earn a living. It is time to close the gap in health insurance coverage and work towards a future where no one is left behind.
