You can completely transform your gel plate prints with just one tool...

The @posca_usa Mop’r paint marker!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first tried it, but now it’s a staple in my marker collection. These paint markers add so much personality to a print.

Here’s how I like to use them:

Draw directly on the gel plate using an acrylic paint marker. Let the paint fully dry. Then roll on a fresh layer of paint, press your paper onto the plate, and pull your print.

That’s it!

And you can use any color paint marker and any kind of paper. Experiment with different colored backgrounds for fun combinations. Try bold-on-bold, or pair dark marker lines with a light paint overlay for contrast. There are so many combinations that work.

This is one of those techniques that instantly makes your prints feel more personal and handmade.

Have you tried the Mop’r paint pen before? What did you think of it?

I just wish poscas were easier clean off the plate. 😭 I always have to pull the dish soap out to actually get all the posca paint off

Do you let the paint dry before pulling the paper? Or pull the paper when it’s still wet, if so, approximately how long do you wait before pulling the paper? Thanks Drew!

Just use the marker on paper. It's not any different transferring with a monoprint. Sometimes we are just making things harder than they need to be.
