Late but: S/O to my favorite class this year, 7th period Urban Scholars ♥ They did some things :)
This year, I finally had a chance to teach completely out the box and together these students accomplished some amazing things. The year was filled with various projects including the Election Education Fair, PSAs, research presentations on propositions and school food issues.
My favorite (I think the class favorite) was the creation of a comprehensive Compton Community Resource Guide. This guide was so well-resourced and useful my students were honored for their work by the Compton Mayor and City Council. ✨ guide link in bio***
This group also earned the FIRST EVER State Seal of Civic Engagement as recipients for CUSD, something I've been advocating for since 2020.
These students grew as leaders and in camaraderie which made looking forward to the last class of the day that much sweeter.
Congrats to this phenomenal group of young people 🎉
