Chikhal Kalo, Goa.
In the village of Marcel in Goa, there is a festival that allows people to get close to the nature. Chikal Kalo, which means playing in mud.
The festival takes place during the monsoon season, when the ground is wet & muddy. Men from the village gather at the Shree Devaki Krishna temple & smear themselves with mud. They then play games & sports in the mud, such as wrestling and tug-of-war.
The festival has both religious & environmental significance. It is a way for people to celebrate the life of Krishna. It is also a way to honor Mother Earth & to appreciate the natural world.
If you are looking for an experience that will take you back to your roots, then Chikhal Kalo is definitely worth checking out.
