As sad as these photos can make me, I am so blessed that I get to see my grandpa’s joy and light through them. Even during his sickness, his kindness and the way he say “hey!” with a smile and two syllables still shone through. I have been so lucky to have him as my grandfather.
During his last days, he said “Thandi, when I get out of this hospital, we will go to New Zealand together”. Though he won’t be physically with me when I go someday, I know he will still be there. My promise to him is to take on the world like he did, and be the light to others as he was
The last two photos includes a snippet from the autobiography he wrote for the family. This was the sunset the day after he passed, I think it was his way to say hello.
