Why people cling to ‘Things’ after a LOVED ONE dies? Why do we cling to a loved one’s things after they die, like the sweater you won’t wash because it still smells like them? It can look like you’re stuck, but grief researchers say it’s one of the most natural things we do. Psychologists call it a continuing bond. When someone dies, we don’t stop loving them. The relationship changes form, and their belongings become a bridge to them. Their voice, their laugh, the way they said your name can fade over time, and an object brings them rushing back when memory alone can’t. Neuroscientists have even found that a cherished belonging can light up the same love and attachment regions of the brain that activate when the person is near. This stunning riverside country pub @thealbanypubtd has undergone a gorgeous makeover, also on their huge terrace area on the riverbank 🙌🏻🤗 So uniquely furnished for an establishment like this on the river with all paintings showing different images of the river thames. There is also a gorgeous room which can be booked for parties etc called the valentine lounge. And I was told their new chef used to work at the Ivy. No complaints whatsoever with the food or my surroundings, just delicious and gorgeous 🤩 What I chose… Nibbles, PULLED PORK, CHEEK & ASPALL CROQUETTES. Starters, PORT & CHEDDAR MUSHROOMS & RUSTIC BREAD. SEA SALT & BLACK PEPPER SQUID, CALABRIAN CHILLI MAYONNAISE. Main course from the main menu… PAN-ROASTED LAMB RUMP, Baby potatoes, chorizo, Tenderstem broccoli. From the chefs specials menu… PAN-FRIED TURBOT, Gnocchi, kohirabi pickle, yellow thai curry, tomato and spring onion salsa. Everything was absolutely delicious 😋 I even took a doggy bag home as I couldn’t waste anything 🤪 Thank you so much for having me and for the staff who were very kind and lovely and looked after me very well.
