For nearly 20 years, California has drawn a line between subsidizing pay for people in front of the camera and the workforce behind it. Its refusal to offset a production’s salary for, say, Tom Cruise, has made it an outlier among the 39 states that offer production incentives and is probably the biggest reason why it’s losing its grip as the filming capital of the world. The idiosyncrasy to California’s film and TV tax credit program has been leveraged by competing states and foreign countries to coax productions into leaving. Now, Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to fight back. On Monday, Newsom announced another major expansion to the program that, if passed, would increase the annual credit from $750 million to $1 billion and allow a portion of pay for actors, directors and producers to qualify, among other changes. At the link in bio, THR's Winston Cho and Katie Kilkenny dive into whether including above-the-line costs in incentives for shows like HBO Max's 'The Pitt' could lure more productions back to Hollywood.
Do you like early Christmas decorating? Been seeing lots of accusations pointing fingers at creators for not letting November be November. Just to clear the air - I’ve been decorating in November for Christmas my entire life. My momma did it. I do it.

🇺🇸 Happy Election Day!! 🇺🇸 Never take your right to vote for granted! ❤️ So many people around the world don’t have the freedom to make their voices heard through the ballot box. My husband @patrick.ellrich and I definitely value this opportunity. Today, we’re especially grateful for the brave men and women of our military, past and present, who have served, sacrificed, and even given their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy. (Especially proud of my husband who is an Army veteran himself!) 🫡 Remember , your voice matters. Your vote matters. So please get out and vote! 🗳️🇺🇸 God bless America! ❤️🤍💙 #ElectionDay #YourVoteMatters #FreedomIsntFree #GodBlessAmerica
To live for the hope of it all!!!
