Daddy Doesn’t Need You To Repay Him For His Love.
That thought, that you have to do all you can to repay God for His love towards you…It sounds noble, doesn’t it?
Yes, we do what we do because God loves us and we’re filled with His love for us
But as similar as these two sound…they’re very different.
I used to be like that. I used to believe I owed God (and I while I do) I perceived God more as a slave master, than a father, even though I did so unconsciously.
When I’d get genuinely hurt or burnt out in the place of service, I paid it no mind, I’d feel like I deserved the pain and the suffering and the hurt because I had to pay God back, because I owe Him.
But that’s not how it’s meant to be. We give our lives to God out of the overflow of His love for us.
One is love, the other feels like love… but it really isn’t.
It is important to separate these two, because it’s easy to begin to feel like your pain doesn’t matter to God.
That’s why there are so many believers in the church knee deep in pain or suffering, in neglect, but they won’t cry out because they believe that the pain and suffering is part of the repayment package. It isn’t. Let go of it today. God is not a slave master.
Dwell on the love of the Father, spoil yourself with it, it will so fill you up that it will begin to overflow… your heart will begin to soften… your prayer points will adjust… your desires will change…
Owing Him your life… it becomes natural, a beautiful love story.
