Are you afraid of failing or are you afraid to be seen trying?
I understand how tough both can feel.
Maybe you feel lost about who you are because you’ve mostly heard who you are not through sarcasm, bullying and subtle insensitivity. Here are some ways you can find out who you are so that you can move forward and it is not motivated by shame:
➡️ Read and meditate on it in the Bible
Here are some places you can start:
🤎: You are chosen. (Ephesians 1:4)
🗣️: You can say - “I [insert your name] am chosen in Him.”
🤎: You have been made accepted. (Ephesians 1:6)
Read that one closely. It is not about blind acceptance. Seeing and liking you vaguely. It is about how God intentionally handles you. How he has adopted you into His family. How he makes you accepted. Acceptance is not on you to make of yourself. When you go to a carnival you pay a price, you win a stuffed animal and you have the authority to choose the one you want. When you choose it, you accept it by taking it with you and maybe even naming it.
🗣️: You can say - “I [insert your name] have been made accepted. The pressure to become accepted is not on me. I rest in my inheritance.
➡️ Ask God personally
Did you know you can ask God:
“Who is [insert your name]?”
“What name do you call me?”
➡️ Notice feedback
Feedback is often seen as negative. It can be highly useful. It is not about perception. It is about information. How you use it is up to you. So, I don’t mean only what people have told you. I mean notice good patterns. How have you made people feel? How do you communicate? What comes natural? Good patterns and data are feedback too. For this, don’t focus on areas of improvement. Or harmful feedback. Notice what is going well. That is feedback or useful information too. Be mindful of the language I’m using. Notice, not improve. Here, you’re collecting your data. Gathering good, helpful information about who you are.
You can move forward.
Feel free to come back and share how this went.
