Today marks my last day with this incredible neurosurgical team & the official completion of my clinical rotations as a nurse practitioner student! Just a few months ago, I took a bold leap, stepping away from the ICU to begin a new chapter in critical care in the Cath Lab. Starting my neurosurgery rotation at the same time pushed me out of my comfort zone & became one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made. Under the mentorship of a brilliant neurosurgical NP & extraordinary neurosurgeon, I’ve expanded my clinical expertise, strengthened my critical thinking, & deepened my passion for patient care. I’ve grown in ways I never imagined possible & found a deep sense of belonging to something greater than myself.

In less than two years, I’ve rotated through Internal Medicine, Neurology, & Neurosurgery, all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I’ve balanced rigorous training with new professional roles, embracing every opportunity to learn & grow. Now, I get to celebrate this milestone just before turning 29 in two weeks.

Closing this chapter feels bittersweet. I’m so proud to be finishing my master’s degree, but stepping into my new role as an NP is both exciting & a little daunting. For the first time, there is no set path ahead or predetermined next step, a reality that feels as empowering as it does uncertain.

I’ve learned that the most meaningful growth happens when we trust the journey, embrace change, & stay true to curiosity & compassion.
