I can’t understand what you say: most pearls are found buried … in the earth?? Buried where??

Good information thanks for this. My mom gave me a string of black aquoyia pearls when I turned 18. Very emotional for her and I wear them in my birthday to remember her.

On rare occasions, you can get pearls from gastropods like snails as well. But I don’t think there’s ever been a garden snail pearl.

To add, a genuine (cultured) pearl strand can range in value greatly from less than $150 to as much as $250,000 or more depending on the type, size, color and grade! That’s always fascinated me as well. Furthermore, they are organic material and should be worn to preserve their quality as they are stimulated by natural body oils and environmental factor. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, rule of thumb is “last thing on, first thing off.” They do NOT react well to perfumes and artificial oils and chemicals! They are also very delicate and can easily break. They should be re-stranded every 5-10 years depending on their usage. Hope this helps anyone looking to purchase a strand lol. I personally own 3 strands.
