a year agoThank you @tavernacostera and all of us in this together about the vegas arts district noise ordinance discussion. We just posted our official perspective and a few ways everyone can help 👏 @audiobarlv
a year agoGreat article - better info now. Glad you noticed that Anna Olin interview on 8News. I used to supply the PA and run sound on First Friday’s MainStage. That all changed when the City of Las Vegas and Zappos changed the face of @firstfridaylv in its own image. I don’t enjoy once again watching the City - @DTLV be involved with rich business people to undermine what local creative culture has created. My statement here doesn’t even begin to explain how so many local creative culture people who were residents there and worked there, were pushed out 10, 15 and 20 years ago. If you hung out at The Enigma Garden Cafe and were friends with people who lived in that neighborhood, or lived there yourself, or even heard about those days from friends, you know this type of hostile takeover of what is now called “the arts district” has been a common feature in the city’s playbook for a very long time.
a year agoThis noise ordinance is bs. The only reason the arts district isn't a cess pool is cause of the local business down there that contribute to the culture . Without those unique businesses that neighborhood will die.
a year agoWe love and appreciate you Jeff & Taverna!! We support you and will be collecting signatures tonight in opposition against the noise reduction policies trying to be put into place. The Arts District is meant to be noisy and vibrant and loud - it is a core part of our city, culture and community. We will not stand for the nonsense.
a year ago“Modifications” to the arts district are unwanted and unnecessary. If you don’t want noise don’t live in the middle of the city 🙃
