If Democrats had spent much of President Donald Trump’s second term searching for a way to break his grip on Washington, voters had now handed them one. The midterms generated a blue wave that swept Republicans out of power in the House and the Senate, reversing the party’s fortunes just two years after Trump’s return to the White House. The results amounted to a decisive rebuke of a President whose handling of the economy, rising prices, and the war with Iran had fueled widespread discontent, and who spent the closing days of the campaign musing about candidates’ anatomy and dismissing Americans’ concerns over their bottom line. For the first time since Trump returned to Washington, Democrats will be able to set the legislative agenda, compel testimony from Administration officials, investigate allegations of corruption, and force Republicans to take difficult votes. Party leaders see an opportunity to turn the public’s discontent with Trump into a sustained argument for returning Democrats to the White House in 2028. Interviews with more than two dozen Democratic leaders, strategists, and members of Congress reveal a party itching to fight on nearly every front the President has opened. But when the midterm victory laps conclude, the Democrats’ deeper problems will be waiting for them. Even leading up to their midterm victory, surveys showed the party remains unpopular. Its leaders are divided over how far left to move, what kind of economic message will win back the voters who abandoned them in 2024, and how aggressively to confront Trump. 🚨 CLINICIANS — WHAT’S YOUR EYE CATCHING IN THIS GAIT? 👀 Every step tells us something. But great clinicians don’t just observe movement… they know what to look for and WHY it’s happening. When evaluating gait, challenge yourself to look at the entire kinetic chain. 🔍 🦶 INITIAL CONTACT: Is the foot striking the ground appropriately? 🦵 WEIGHT ACCEPTANCE: Is the patient demonstrating adequate stability and control? 🏋️ HIP & PELVIS: Are you noticing compensations, asymmetries, or abnormal movement? ⚡ PUSH-OFF: Is there adequate propulsion and lower-extremity power? 🧠 THINK BEYOND THE DEVIATION: Is the underlying issue related to strength, mobility, motor control, or neuromuscular function? THE BIGGER PICTURE: Don’t just identify what looks abnormal. Develop a hypothesis, test it, and determine WHY the patient is moving that way. 👇 PUT YOUR CLINICAL EYE TO THE TEST! 1️⃣ What specific gait deviation are you observing? 2️⃣ What impairment would you investigate first? 3️⃣ What would you test to confirm your hypothesis? Let’s hear your clinical reasoning! 🔥
