2025-07-01 to 07-06: Blackcap Basin & Le Conte Divide
My first time visiting the Sierra National Forest was spectacular! I hiked from the Maxon Trailhead up to Guest Lake, then went over Blackcap Pass to Blackcap Basin. Roamed around and visited several lakes and Lightning Corral Meadow (gorgeous!), then went up Confusion Pass to Gunsight Pass. Visited the fascinating "Quartz Pillow" then went over Lucifer's Saddle to Devils Punchbowl Lake. Cruised through Red Mountain Basin, Reddys Hole, and Red Rock Basin on the way to Burnt Corral Creek and out.
Beautiful western slopes, slabs for days (I kept thinking "slabs for @jabs.jablonski"! lol), views of Mt. Goddard and the Black Divide and Finger Peak and the White Divide, the North Fork of the Kings... the domes at Courtright, even giant sequoias at McKinley Grove. So incredible. I truly am a Sierra person. :)

Next up: three days on the Tablelands with Señor Ronchi, then 11 days (without resupply!) on the Kings Canyon High Basin Route with @mikaelaosler, Hunter, and seven amazing teammates (including @backpackthesw, @ericknudson, and @dpercefull) with @andrewskurka's most excellent program. So psyched! 😁
