Two aerial photos tell the whole story: a dirt road punched clean through one of the most recognized structures on the planet, and a red circle helpfully pointing out the crime as if anyone could miss it. The wall meant to define a civilization, repel nomadic invasions, and stand for two thousand years apparently did not survive the inconvenience of a morning commute. Rome had a version of this too, just slower. As the Western Empire crumbled, locals dismantled aqueducts, forums, and temple facades brick by brick, not out of spite, but because the marble was right there and the new church needed a foundation. Spolia, the Romans called it: sacred infrastructure repurposed for immediate utility. The eternal city was quietly cannibalized by the very people it was built to protect. The Ming Dynasty spent over a century reinforcing, extending, and manning this wall as a strategic military boundary against the steppe. Thousands died in its construction. It became the defining symbol of a civilization drawing a hard line between order and chaos. That lineage now has a dirt road through it, worn smooth by truck tires, because walking around added fifteen minutes to someone's day. The prank is that every great monument is only one generation of inconvenience away from becoming a speed bump. Man reportedly pushes girlfriend’s sister from 2-storey building in Imo state for allegedly refusing his advances. A young man has been arrested after he allegedly threw his girlfriend’s sister from a storey building in Mbonu Ejike, Owerri, Imo State. A video of the suspect being escorted by security agents after he was almost assaulted by a mob made the rounds on Sunday, November 1. According to reports, the suspect’s girlfriend had travelled out of town, leaving her boyfriend with his sister at home. The reports claim the suspect had attempted to have carnal knowledge of the sister, and because she resisted his attempt, he pushed her down the building, fatally injuring her. The suspect was immediately apprehended and handed over to operatives of the Imo State Police Command, which is yet to officially confirm the incident.
