You don’t know what you got til it’s gone. Couldn’t be farther from the truth in this case. I recently had the privilege of handling what maybe was a once in a lifetime collection. Amongst it was a very sizable collection of under ground comics from the 60’s and 70’s (about 1 1/2 long boxes.)
My knowledge of these books was decent, however I’d never actually given them the time of day, mainly because my access to them was limited. When I got the collection I was very intrigued by them, but due to the substantial payment I had to give for the collection I was also very motivated to sell.
I held on to a handful that I was familiar with, but also let go of a lot I wish I had kept.
It’s really all good though because the collection landed in the hands of an awesome dude who’s going to get this amazing collection into the hands of some great collectors that are truly going to cherish these gems and for me that is what’s most important and fulfilling. If these people are anything like the collector I am these books are where they belong. I have found a new passion within comic book collecting in Under Ground Comics. For now I present a photo out of my norm 900+ posts later, humble little Under Ground Collection. Remember this in a year when I have thousands.
