Today is a day that I am not emotionally prepared for. However, it is a day, that as a a parent, I have prepared for. Today is the day I hand over the primary responsibility for providing and protecting Evelyn Kate Windham. It has been an amazing 27+ years raising you with a major assist from @sharonwindham and the Lord. You are an amazing woman and I look forward to seeing this next chapter as you become Mrs. Tony Tsoukalas. You will always have my heart. I love you, Blondie. Let’s have a party and celebrate your wedding day!!

Lucky Penny is hospitalized. ❤️‍🩹 We had hoped to see improvement after 24 hours, but her symptoms are still very significant, most discouragingly her refusal of food. Even with symptom management and force-feeding, she is extremely anorexic at just 315g (she should weigh about 700g at her age) and is experiencing intermittent hypoglycemia that is much better managed on IV in an emergency hospital. She’s a very challenging case, and based on the severity of her body condition, this has been impacting her for some time. In addition to her respiratory issues and inappetence, she also has severe symblepharon, with her conjunctival tissues adhered together on both eyes. This is causing blindness and damage that is unlikely to be reparable; she’s on all the right medications and as long as she continues to pull through, she will be seen by an ophthalmologist this week to determine if anything else can be done. Right now, the focus is on her immediate survival. Our main goal is for her to EAT. The only good news is that her initial critical care bloodwork isn’t too bad, and so far everyone is aligned on continuing care for her. I’m including a video at the end to show you how sweet Lucky Penny is, making little biscuits on her blanket. She reminds me so much of the condition and age that I found my cat Eloise many years ago. She breaks my heart and I am determined to give her every possible chance.
