Class is in session for A History of Design. Lesson two: the Georgians ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Strap yourselves into your corsets, because weโ€™re heading back to 1714โ€“1830 to explore the era of symmetry, proportion, sash windows and fireplaces that refuse to be overlooked. From grand Georgian architecture and floor-to-ceiling panelling to the early influence of Thomas Chippendale, dado rails (which, FYI, had rather practical origins) and those deliciously moody historic paint colours. All of which goes some way to explaining why Georgian interiors feel so effortlessly right. And yes, this is a LONG one. Weโ€™re going long-form, baby. Ever heard of it?! ๐Ÿ˜œ I jest, but I do worry about what all these short and snappy reels are doing to our attention spans, so hereโ€™s a healthy 2 minutes and 30 seconds of interior design nerdiness. Youโ€™re welcome. Give me a ๐Ÿ›๏ธ in the comments if you made it to the end, and thank you again, for indulging me in a little history lesson. Next lesson: arches. Class dismissed.
