a year agoAbsolutely. It feels so strained within the constructs that the 'industry' has created around the offerings of yoga. Even when we aim to create community centered places, they are often separated as individual yoga businesses and cannot generate the support needed to continue.
a year agoAmazing articulate description of neoliberalism, its intersection with westernized yoga, and the roots of yoga. 👏
a year ago‘The privatization of freedom by a few select companies’ who are profiting in the yoga industry… are you referring to Yoga merchandising companies specifically? I’m just curious at what companies are actually profiting off of Yoga. I see a lot with the merchandise, but in so far as the actual business of bringing Yoga practice into the world, such as yoga, studios, or individual teachers, I don’t see a lot of profit coming from that aspect
a year agoUgh I love you. I love the way you string words together. You are the guru I needed when I started practicing yoga and thought yoga was just the asana. Now I know I’ve been practicing this whole time in the unraveling of my own mind through reflection and the understanding of social and political contexts. Thank you.
