In the latest NARA podcast episode, our junior reporter Nojus Setkauskas (@nojuset) talks with documentarians Karolina Domagalska (@cos_na_a) and Miki Redelinghuys about how documentary films can inspire social change.
Karolina Domagalska’s film @abortiondreamteam_themovie follows activists in Poland assisting women facing unwanted pregnancies.
Miki Redelinghuys’s film @mothercitydocumentary (co-directed with Pearlie Joubert) depicts the social housing movement 'Reclaim the City', led by the activist Nkosikhona Swortbooi, who also speaks in the episode.
Nojus met both directors in March at the @moviesthatmatterfestival in The Hague — a vital space where filmmakers and activists raise awareness and spark dialogue between communities and policymakers. This episode, like our earlier conversation with filmmaker Tommy Gulliksen, captures the urgency and hope that fuel these powerful festivals.
