Coach Matt McElligott

I had the opportunity to work with two talented pitchers attending Eastern Michigan University. Emmett Gillies is entering his senior year, while his younger brother, Malcolm, is an incoming freshman. I previously played with Emmett in high school and at the University of Akron, so I’ve worked with him before. Emmett’s fastball has significant ride, complemented by an excellent 12-6 curveball. Today, he also demonstrated great feel for his sweeper and changeup during his bullpen session. Malcolm will be a valuable addition to EMU. His fastball showed good arm-side movement, and he threw an impressive changeup. We focused on refining his slider today, which improved throughout the session, developing great bite with a gyro-like action. I was thrilled to work with both athletes before they head off to school. I look forward to following their progress this season and getting them back to the @hittinglab_ in the offseason #stackdays #pitching #baseball #d1baseball
