I had the chance to see Bubba Chandler make his MLB debut tonight as the Pirates took on the Rockies. Bubba is the first player l’ve had the chance to know on a personal level make his MLB debut in person. I watched Bubba get drafted in 2021 and got to see him progress through the Pirates organization while working for them. He originally came into the organization as a switch-hitter and pitched once a week before transitioning to a pitcher full-time.
Bubba is the number 1 pitching prospect, and there’s a good reason for it. He has an electric fastball that got up to triple digits tonight and has great off-speed. He’s had a tough year in AAA, but it was awesome to see him go 4 innings with 0 runs, 2 hits, and 3 strikeouts to earn his first save in the MLB. To the kids I’ve been working with and all the future kids I have the opportunity to work with, I want you to notice how he uses his legs. There’s a reason this guy throws 100 mph. Great arm action and mechanics to watch for any young pitcher. Congrats to Bubba on a successful debut. If your child is looking for pitching/ throwing lessons, In addition to pitching in college, I have worked in professional baseball for 10 plus years. During that time, l’ve been around MLB-level coaches and players, such as Bubba. Through watching them instruct and work, while asking plenty of questions, l’ve learned a lot. I would love to pass on that knowledge. You can find me at Curl’s Corner Hitting Lab, in Gahanna. I’m looking for hard-working, young talent to work with.
