Photos from Thursdays protest for Gonpo Kyi and Dorje Tashi! Thanks for
@rtycnynj @sftphilly for supporting us through the 24 hour solidarity fast.
Dorje Tashi was unjustly arrested in 2008 and was served life imprisonment. Simply for protecting his community, he was placed as a target by the CCP.
His younger sister Gonpo Kyi’s advocacy has spanned across these years and her social media activism in the past years due to her appeal and visitation rejections has served as a rare example of news about direct Tibetan resistance against Chinese occupation that has been able to make it out of China’s information blackout of Tibet.
Her bravery has inspired generations of activists to come and her actions to jump out a window sent shockwaves across our community. But what we saw was that as soon as she hit the ground, she picked up her phone and continued to advocate for her brother and the injustice done to him by the CCP.
If Tibetans are jumping out of windows to protest and advocate for Tibetan people, we must continue to protest in exile for the millions of those who cannot.
