I saw @chuck.jones.rva performing with @scorn.on.the.cobb for the first time at an outdoor show on a balmy summer evening, right around sunset. Chuck and Laura’s voices swam together through the air as Chuck played a tune on a beautiful, gleaming instrument I had never seen before. I knew I had to photograph them playing it as soon as I saw it in their arms. I reached out the very next morning, and it wasn’t long before we were sharing coffee and conversation, laying the groundwork for our shoot. Within a week of seeing them play, I was wandering their garden and eating the best figs I’ve ever had, petting their goats, and setting up my flash to take what I thought would only be a couple of test shots. I ended up getting a few that were good enough to share. This is one of them. Thank you, Chuck, for trusting me to capture how brightly you shine as you strum the strings of your resonator and sing sweetly into the soft haze of a warm summer night.
