We move through life carrying multiple selves. Most of the time, we’re unaware of them. They surface as alter egos, forms that adapt to whatever environment we’re placed in. Think of how often you change to fit the environment around you.
You realize, you aren’t a single identity. You’re a vessel. Inside, different versions of you compete for space, your vessel. Experiences, emotions, and memory shape this colorful vessel like wax, soft, shifting, while the skeleton holds it together, your foundation.
When your mask comes off, alter egos rush in, fight to try to define you. To function, you fuse the mask back onto your face, presenting a version of yourself that can survive the moment and add to the colorful mosaic array of vibrant colors adding to your wax self.
But that mask is only an illusion. Identity is not fixed. It is fluid, a performance, endlessly reshaped by the conditions that surround it.
We are ever evolving, no fixed state, yet we argue the latter.
So the question remains: Who are you exactly?
