I’m still trying to navigate this stage of parenting and, yeah, she might hate me for it right now 😂 but with everything I know about children’s mental health and the relationship between screens and our wellbeing, I feel like I’m making the right decision. I don’t want her growing up feeling like she needs to be glued to a phone or having access to things she’s not ready to process bc that’s some scary sh*t. And don’t get me wrong, I know it’s important for her to learn how to create her own boundaries with screen time but I think that can come a little later. She’s 11. I’m in no rush to give her the internet❤️
Actor Macaulay Culkin, best known for his role in Home Alone, recreated the famous Thousand Yard Stare meme for Halloween, dressing as a traumatised soldier with a military helmet, camouflage face paint and an exhausted expression. His costume closely resembles the haunting artwork inspired by a photograph of a US Marine during the Battle of Eniwetok in 1944. The original image became an enduring symbol of the psychological toll of warfare, capturing the vacant expression often associated with extreme combat stress. Culkin’s recreation brought the historic image into modern pop culture, highlighting just how recognisable the famous stare has become. 🎃🪖
