In 1973, psychologist David Rosenhan pulled off one of the most shocking experiments in psychiatry. He sent 8 perfectly sane people into psychiatric hospitals across the U.S. All 8 were diagnosed with schizophrenia or manic depression. Every normal act became «evidence of illness.» Writing notes? «Paranoia.» Politeness?
«Pathological friendliness.» Even flushing toilets was noted as a symptom. The average stay was 19 days. The longest 52. To get out, they had to admit they were ill and swallow powerful antipsychotics. Over 2,100 pills prescribed.
When Rosenhan published the results, psychiatry was shaken. One hospital asked him to send more fakes. Over 3 months, staff flagged 41 patients as imposters. But... Rosenhan never sent anyone. The line between «sane» and «insane» is thinner than we want to believe.

As I have said many times…. Psychology is not a science. It is not even a pseudo science. Pure thumb suck nonsense.

This isn't the line between sane and insane. This is to a hammer, every problem is a nail.

That’s not all. The hospitals that diagnosed them with manic depression were private hospitals. Schizophrenia has no cure, only remission, which holds a bigger stigma so they were reluctant to put that stigma on perceived wealthier people. Also, the actual patients could tell they were imposters.

Type ‘Thud’ into Google and look for a report titled ‘Being Sane in Insane Places’ psychiatry is appalling

Not surprised. Those same doctors think certain conditions can be cured, like child molestation.

Holy shit now reading through the comments most of you missed what this proves. It’s arrogance and money. A Dr sent them patience. Patience they could prescribe drugs to for a kickback. They found something because they needed to. Then when he sent the fakes or pretended to, they wanted to prove their worth so they actually analyzed their patients realizing they were only there for the pharmaceutical kickbacks essentially telling on themselves.

Psychology is a ridiculous scam simply on the basis that everyone thinks differently

I don’t think the line between sane and insane is that thin, I think the line between ethical and corrupt medical practices are what’s thin
