India’s Tallest Prayer Wheel @ Menchuka
In May, during our summer vacation, we visited Dorjee Sempa Khorchen—India’s tallest prayer wheel. With the capacity to hold an astounding 1.6 billion prayers, including 16 Dungyurs (each carrying 10 crore prayers), it truly embodies collective aspirations for peace, harmony, and enlightenment.
What made the experience even more special was that the prayer wheel can be moved by 12 people at once—a fun and meaningful activity we enjoyed together as a family, as you’ll see in the reel.
The location itself, Menchuka—often called India’s Switzerland—felt like one of the country’s best-kept secrets. From the warm people and rich culture to the breathtaking snow-capped mountains along the Indo-China border, everything was welcoming and beautiful. Adding to the charm was our stay at @hornbillhomestay24 with Mr. Pema and family, whose cozy, clean, and comfortable home made us feel truly at peace amidst this surreal setting.
