Batu Caves are an important Hindu pilgrimage site and tourist attraction located in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia, about 13 km north of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, consisting of a series of limestone caves and cave temples dedicated to the deity Lord Murugan.
The site features a massive, 43-meter-tall golden statue of Lord Murugan at its entrance and is known for the 272 colorful steps leading to the main temple cave, which has a high ceiling (325 m). The caves are over 400 million years old and are a significant focal point for the Tamil Hindu festival of Thaipusam.
