Learjet N722BD’s final flight, recreated using our models in a 3D simulation with its flight track and the real air traffic control audio. Miami Center warned the crew the turn to Freeport looked “pretty bad.” Moderate to extreme precipitation, 25 miles out, a storm about 100 miles across. Controllers cleared them to deviate left or right. The pilot answered “Roger, we’ll look at it” and stayed direct Freeport. Then she reported ice and moderate turbulence. Then the mayday. Descending 10,000 feet per minute. Overspeed. Descending 20,000 feet per minute. Banking 60 degrees. “We’re going to crash into the ground.” The controller’s answer: “I’m here with you. Talk to me.” The jet fell from about 37,300 feet to 325 feet over Greenacres, Florida in roughly 75 seconds...
Imagine finishing up in a public bathroom and walking out past a giant clock showing exactly how long you were in there 😳🚽 At the Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site in China’s Shanxi province, digital screens above each stall glow green with the word “empty” when it’s free. The moment someone locks the door, the screen starts counting up the minutes and seconds. Staff say the timers are about safety, helping workers notice if someone has been inside long enough that they might need help. They also stressed there’s no time limit, and nobody gets pulled out partway through. Reactions online have been split. Some people love knowing which stall is about to open up, while others say it feels uncomfortably like being watched. Similar displays have reportedly turned up in Shanghai too, where some showpiece public restrooms have used occupancy screens for about 20 years. Helpful or way too much? 👇
