In August 2024, we performed at Artjog closing our Carnivalesque set with “Pictures of Yesteryear.” The performance reimagined the song, expanding its original focus to encompass pivotal moments in our journey.

Originally written around themes of gentrification and nostalgia, the song took on new layers in this live rendition. At ArtJog—and later at @cherrypopfest 2024—the performance was accompanied by candid stills of the band from 2007–2015. The coda deepened this reflection, presenting images of deceased friends and colleagues not as static memorials, but as part of a living archive of social networks, past and present—reminders of how small interactions shape collective growth. For the band, this is the most important aspect in the music scene but often overlooked and overshadowed by formalized gigantification of things. Small things are what we cherish. Mundane, vernacular, intimate. They are us. We are them. Hail to the scene!

We discovered new meaning in “Pictures of Yesteryear.” The live track will be featured in future releases. Here's the coda.
