progress... my drum journey has been that of a weekend warrior, mostly only drumming on weekends for 1 or 2 hours. i have moved house, packed up the acoustic kit, did not play for 2 years. then this year i decided life is too short to not play drums so i got the electric kit. my skills have suffered in the 2 year break, but now i feel my kicks are much better than before. before, it was very hard and physically laborous for me to reach kicks like this, but with some improvement on technique and some proprioceptive adaptation i am taking steps forward again. ill probably never be a technical or complicated drummer because honestly practicing technical stuff is not fun. i only pursue things which are enjoyable, but that doesnt mean i avoid challenges, its the opposite, i accept challenges but only to further my interests. i want to be a blast & doublekicks demon at about 200-220bpm, i can push it to 240bpm blasts in shorter bursts, but i actually dont really enjoy 250+ bpm metal, at some stage the music suffers and becomes sterile, lacking human element. anyway im raving on about bullshit, i appreciate technical music also, i would not depreciate the effort of people who pursue Necrophagist & Archspire type music. artists have different goals and thats what makes music good in the first place. my current goal is to perform Hymn 2 by Ulver, if you know that song you'll know it is just endless doublekicks and blaating for 5 minutes. challenge accepted
