Johto Bob

Real ones remember battling Red back in Gen 2. I don’t think anything could have prepared us for the first time we battled Red as kids. The idea of an NPC that was barely mentioned and was hidden deep in a cave and had Pokémon leveled in the 80s… it was unthinkable until you were facing it. Then in HGSS they did two things. They moved him to the top of the mountain and made his Pokémon even higher level. It’s one of the all time great moments in the franchise and has one of the best soundtracks. This moment always feels special.
