Colorado trip recap!! 🏔️ So fun being back in Colorado and showing the girls a place that holds so many memories from our 20’s! For those who are newer here - Bryce and I met and started dating in college back here in Minnesota. Once we graduated, we packed up our little cars with all we had and moved out to Colorado, kind of on a whim - no jobs and no place to live. I picked a state I knew would have good snowboarding and a pretty change of scenery hoping that Bryce would pick up boarding quickly and love it too (of course he did). I never had been to CO before nor had I even seen mountains (more of a beach girl personally) but I loved it. We got there and settled in, and ended up not leaving for 5.5 years! We were both shocked at how much we loved the people and the beautiful state. We spent so many weekends snowboarding, hiking, backpacking, camping, brewery touring, rooftop drinking, skyline city pools, and mountain cabin nights in hot tubs with friends. I really couldn’t have imagined a better time in my 20’s. I launched my photography business while in CO before moving back closer to our families in 2019, right before the COVID and lockdown. This is when we got decided to settle in more and build a future - marriage, house and kids. This time feels like a lifetime ago, but so many memories flood back in when we walk the same streets and see those familiar peaks. One of my favorite parts of having my daughters has been seeing places for the first time again through their eyes, and that’s what this trip felt like. Ozzy had been once before, but neither had been up to my favorite ski resort or gotten to experience it together. Trips like this make me really appreciate how far we’ve come, how different your life can look based on little decisions like where you should live. How cool is it that I get to have these tiny travel besties with me for years to come?!!! 🤎🙌🏼 Places we went & love @crema_dnvr @fotmpdx @sweetcowicecream @tennstreetcoffee @childrensmuseumdenver @sexypizza @fsvail @atomicstays @yetisgrind @zunistreetbrewing @bluesparrowcoffee @denvermuseumns @lingerdenver @dencentralmkt @huckleberryroasters
Before I close this birthday chapter, thank you for all the love, wishes and blessings. 🥹🤍 I’ve spent the last few days celebrating another year of life, but somewhere between all the celebrations, I realised something. We spend so much of our lives wanting to be loved, understood, chosen and celebrated by others that sometimes we forget the one person who’s been with us through absolutely everything. Ourselves. I’ve been so many versions of me. Some I loved, some I struggled to understand, some I’m still learning to forgive. But every single one of them brought me here. Somewhere between wanting to be independent and never wanting to leave my people behind, between making mistakes and making memories, between building a life and learning to live it… I became someone my younger self would be proud of. And if there’s one thing I want to tell you, it’s this: No matter who stays, who leaves, what works out or what doesn’t, please don’t ever leave your own side. Be the person you can come home to. Celebrate your little wins. Forgive yourself for your mistakes. Make yourself happy, even on the days when nobody else knows how to. Love people with your whole heart, but save some of that love for yourself too. I’m still building, still dreaming, still figuring things out. And for once, I’m not in a hurry to become someone else. Thank you for being a part of my journey and for making this birthday so special. Here’s to growing older without leaving the little us behind. 🤍 . Ps. i will post the vlog super soon on my youtube ♥️trust me you will love every bit of it !! #TheNewEra #sameekshatakke #birthdayweek #november
