Witness the ritual

On Sarvapitri Amavasya, the concluding day of Pitru Paksha, Banganga Tank in Mumbai becomes a site of collective remembrance. Families gather to honour their ancestors with rituals of head shaving, offerings of rice, flowers, and water, guided by priests. As a documentary photographer, I witnessed the blending of devotion and emotion the silence in faces, the rhythm of chants, the weight of tradition carried through simple gestures. My photographs attempt to preserve these moments where the sacred and the everyday meet, showing how remembrance at Banganga is not only performed, but lived, binding generations through memory and faith.
