I will always be enduringly grateful to @oscarhsolomon not only for so many lovely evenings at @apollosydney and @chochosansydney over the years, but for the priceless recommendation of @carnationcanteen. The idea that I could have been in Melbourne and not eaten there is quite giving me a fit of the vapours! But thanks to him, I went and was – and remain – smitten. It’s teeny-tiny, and from its small kitchen comes the most beautiful food: simple in the sense that it’s not frilly or fussy, but awe-inspiring in its uncluttered exquisiteness. Chef Audrey @u_o_v_o and her small team are pitch-perfect, and that goes for front of house, too. Kye Connors (this year’s winner of The Age Young Service Talent Award, and I can see why) made the evening yet more upliftingly memorable.
And now I’ve hardly left room to tell you about what I ate! So moving swiftly on, I inhaled a frosty bone-dry vodka martini with beautiful oysters before feasting on smoky and tender octopus Gildas (pic 2), vibrant tongues of young zucchini/courgettes plus silky blossom with oregano, lemon, pinenuts and cloud-soft buffalo ricotta and tender cold roast beef with artichokes, salty shards of parmesan and parsley (pic 3). This was followed by two gorgeous charcoal-grilled dishes: sardines in a rapturous Bloody Mary dressing (pic 4) and just breathtaking, confidently unadorned – just lemon and excellent olive oil – baby snapper, with a zesty salad of tender leaves, asparagus and Dutch Cream potatoes (pic 5). And somehow I found room for the chicken, intense in flavour, so tender to the bite, in a dreamy, drinkable n’duja sauce with fava bean and, alongside, a bowl of yogurt-splodged bitter greens (pic 6). Yes, I ate a lot, but the freshness of the food and the warmth of the place ensured I left (if reluctantly: I could have stayed forever) light of heart and full of admiration and gratitude.

Simple one with കൂറ look😁

✨3 phases of weight loss:

1) 12-15# down with 7 months of “doing all the right things” (late March - late Oct 2025).

2) 12-15# with a GLP1 (late Oct 2025 - early Jan 2026) and lost basically only muscle... 👀

3) 36# DOWN without a GLP-1 ... Plus the GLOW UP of my life + total body recomposition with muscle and strength. (Jan - July 2026)

✨FRIENDS.... Read these stories (shared from my insta page)....

... this is the only “before and after” I’ve posted because honestly the “before” makes me INCREDIBLY emotional.

It was such a dark, hard season of my life. 😭

... Not only was I incredibly overweight...
... I was struggling SO HARD with mental health stuff...
... marriage stuff
... chronic-sick-kid stuff
... not sleeping through the night hardly ever...
... insulin resistance
... lost my identity entirely

🔥AND IN THIS before PIC I was working out EVERYDAY, cold plunging, taking $1000 worth of supplements a month...

The toll this level of stress takes on your body as a woman is W-I-L-D.

Tonight I’m sharing THE WHOLE STORY.... including stuff I haven’t ever shared publicly. Like “all the life updates”....

If you’d like an invite, comment STORY below and we’ll get you the link!

Can’t wait to see you there.

XO,
J 💙
