Although I almost abandoned the drawing, thank goodness after changing it for about the fifth time, I was able to finish it. . . It is time for my annual crying-about-Anne-Rice video. It was such an honor to hear @christopher.rice.writer, @ericshawquinn, & the phenomenal @lbardugo speak about Anneโ€™s work and her legacy this afternoon at Loyola (thanks to @the.gardendistrictbookshop). Leighโ€™s words particularly about the importance of creating - or continuing to write and make art and express ourselves authentically, especially in the age of AI, really hit home for me. Creativity can be really isolating and lonely, and many of us are already weird, lonely people. But if Anne had quit writing the vampire chronicles, so many of us would have had very different life trajectories. Anneโ€™s work changed my life, and Iโ€™ll be grateful forever to her, and to the writers she inspired. Time to go home and re-read the Devilโ€™s minion chapter of qotd for the thousandth time. And then write. And then never stop writing. ๐Ÿฅ€โค๏ธ
Fernanda Nebreda-Bello (@fnebreda) entered Francisco Jassir Mirandaโ€™s life by walking right into his home. When a mutual friend invited Fernanda to a party, as soon as she walked in, Francisco caught her eye. While Fernanda had been planning on moving to Mexico soon, Francisco told her, โ€œhe was going to complicate that.โ€ The rest was history. They did two years of long-distance before getting engaged on a trip to Florence, Italy, in September of 2025 and set the date for the big day to be on August 22, 2026. As both Fernanda's and Franciscoโ€™s family and friends would need to travel, they thought it made the most sense to "bring them to the most magical place in the world: the Sacred Valley in Cusco, Peru.โ€ Tap the link in our bio to see the weekend full of activities the couple curated. Grateful for another year of life, growth, purpose, and grace. Today I celebrate not just my birthday, but every lesson, every blessing, and every closed door that led me closer to who Iโ€™m becoming. ๐Ÿ’‡โ€โ™€๏ธ @estaahair ๐Ÿ“ท @lokuhlemedia ๐Ÿ’„ @zees_glam_centre ๐Ÿฐ @lu_shongwe ๐Ÿ‘— @5th.avefashion
