Lisbon
Oh Lisboa… you ancient beauty, more than 3,000 years old — older than Rome! Built on seven hills (well, actually more, but the Romans liked the symbolism), rebuilt after the great earthquake, tsunami, and fires of 1755 and today, over 2.8 million souls call you home.

A city layered with history — from the charm of the old town to Belém, from the creativity of Príncipe Real to the winding streets of Alfama, where the music of Fado was born.

And I learned that Pastéis de Nata were invented by clever Catholic monks in Belém who used egg whites to starch their robes and had to figure out what to do with all the leftover yolks… a very relevant discovery given how many I’ve happily consumed! #slowtravel #lisboa #portugal #itsallgood
