“I was in a really unique position where I was competing at a really high level as the Ryder Cup captain, and it sort of dawned on me - I was at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, and the crowd was going crazy for me. And I had this realization of, in the history of the game - back to Bobby Jones, back to Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus - I don’t know if any of them got to experience what I experienced this year…

“I got to experience something in the game of golf that I don’t think anyone’s ever experienced, where I’m the Ryder Cup captain but also competing at a very high level, and winning tournaments and contending in tournaments. And it was really incredible.”
