Is airline elite status worth it anymore? 👀 It's an age-old question that's back on plenty of minds — especially after two of the four largest U.S. carriers overhauled their loyalty programs this month. (As a reminder, that was United Airlines and Southwest.) One theme is becoming clear: To get the best rewards, members are going to have to spend ... a lot. On one hand, airline status still offers a host of ways to save money, get better seats and travel with more flexible policies. And, in some ways, qualify has become more realistic for travelers who aren't true "road warriors," since everyday spending counts toward status. At the same time, free first-class upgrades have gotten harder to score and status benchmarks keep getting pricier to earn. 😬 It's created a real dilemma for travelers who fly a lot — but only have so much money they're willing to put toward earning status: Is it worth dumping tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars onto your favorite airline's credit card to reach your status goal? Here are a few things to consider. Think about what you're getting out of status, and whether it's worth the investment. ➡️ Are you actually getting first-class upgrades? For a lot of travelers, those have become few and far between. ➡️ If not, are you regularly getting free access to your airline's extra-legroom section? (Personally, this perk is one of the biggest reasons I stick with status.) ➡️ Do you take real advantage of other elite benefits, like free same-day changes or lounge access? If not, you could be a candidate to hop off the status "hamster wheel" and be an airline "free agent." But if you've crunched the numbers and decided status is still worth it, you may need to double down on your favorite airline. 👈 And that might mean prioritizing credit card spending on that carrier's card. Because in 2026, that is almost as important as flying when it comes to unlocking the best perks. Head to the 🔗 in bio for how much you'd need to pay for entry-tier airline status in 2027 if you went exclusively by credit card spending. There is a massive difference between treating fitness as a phase and treating it as a way of living. When you see those of us in our 40s and beyond who are in incredible shape, you are looking at people who stopped making sacrifices a long time ago. Instead, we made a choice. To the outside world, our lifestyle looks like a series of restrictions. No nights out, no junk food, no breaks. People think we possess superhuman willpower. But from the inside, it requires almost no willpower at all. Why? Because we made that choice which shifted our identity. We don’t crave junk food because it doesn’t agree with the body anymore. Instead, we eat what fuels us and makes us function well. There is no feeling of deprivation when your actions align perfectly with your values. For us, it isn’t a sacrifice; it is the ultimate form of self-respect. Now, look at the other side of the coin. A lot of people who look incredible at 25 will not maintain that look into their 40s. At 25, youth provides a natural biological buffer. A fast metabolism and rapid recovery can easily compensate for a lot of lifestyle inconsistencies. The trap is that when staying in shape requires less effort, it’s easy to treat fitness as a temporary project rather than learning how to truly live this way. But youth eventually expires. When that biological buffer fades and life gets complicated, a temporary project mindset completely collapses. You cannot outwork a changing biology without deep roots. For us, fitness isn’t a project we run to when we have time—it is part of our daily life.

democrats have won control of the senate, flipping republican seats in states including texas and north carolina, while making significant gains in the house, where the final majority is still being determined. among the biggest election night results, james talarico won the texas senate race, roy cooper flipped north carolina’s senate seat, and jon ossoff secured reelection in georgia. democrats also won governorships in texas, georgia, ohio and iowa. and while the remaining votes are being counted, twitter is doing what it does best
